The kitties at the Oakland Animal Shelter love to sleep in their “hammocks” – beds we’ve designed to hang in their cages for better comfort. We can always use help making these kitty hammocks, so if you like to sew and would like to help make shelter cats more comfortable, consider sewing the pattern below.
Cat Hammock Pattern:
Use a thick fabric such as canvas or denim (you should be able to get inexpensive or even free “remnants” from a fabric store). Cut into rectangles 20 inches by 21 inches. Sew double thick 1 inch hems on each side and reinforce all corners. Your finished “bed” will be a rectangle that is 17 inches by 16 inches. We will add grommets. If you have questions about the pattern, please email Megan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
